One of the best things about preserved roses is how little care they need. But "little care" doesn't mean "no care" — a few simple rules will keep your Floragram roses beautiful for the full 1–3 years.

The Golden Rule: No Water

This is the most important rule. Never, ever add water to preserved roses. Unlike fresh flowers, preserved roses have been treated with a glycerin solution that replaces their natural moisture. Adding water disrupts this process and can cause petals to become sticky, lose their shape, or develop mould.

Keep them completely dry at all times.

Keep Away From Direct Sunlight

UV light is the primary cause of colour fading in preserved roses. Avoid placing them:

  • On windowsills in direct sun
  • Near skylights
  • Outdoors or in sunrooms

Indirect natural light is perfectly fine — and actually beautiful. Just avoid direct sunlight hitting the petals for extended periods.

Avoid High Humidity

Humidity is preserved roses' second biggest enemy. High moisture in the air can cause petals to become tacky or lose their structure. Avoid displaying your roses in:

  • Bathrooms
  • Kitchens near the stove or sink
  • Laundry rooms
  • Anywhere that gets steamy or damp

Keep at Room Temperature

Extreme temperatures — both hot and cold — can affect the preservation. Avoid placing near:

  • Heating vents or radiators
  • Air conditioning units
  • Exterior doors that let in cold drafts

Standard room temperature (18–24°C) is ideal.

Minimise Touching

The natural oils on your skin can affect the petals over time. Try to handle the roses as little as possible. If you need to adjust them, hold the stems rather than the petals.

Dusting Your Roses

Over time, dust will settle on the petals. To clean:

  • Use a very soft brush (like a makeup brush) to gently sweep dust away
  • Or use a can of compressed air held at a distance
  • Never use a damp cloth or any liquid

What to Expect Over Time

With proper care, Floragram preserved roses will stay beautiful for 1–3 years. Over time, you may notice very subtle softening of colour — this is natural and gradual. Kept well, many customers still have beautiful roses 2+ years after purchase.
